I am uneasy but I won’t leave Don’t ask after me Do it now don’t wait for morning I start to dance you’re looking now At off-white socks pulled down Don’t ask how I’m doing I don’t live in the ninth but doesn’t this sound like My Laferrière cry when the Metro drum beat the sound of my sleep He talks of balloons when I float out of sight But this time you’re not here to pull me down with a soft sleep tight Take your hand off my side you don’t do it right And I will be alright, just not tonight So don’t put me down Rockaby baby Roackaby my baby Rockaby baby Rockababy baby La la la la la We were too deep two feet in the ground You let nothing lift me out Hands up pull up I’m coming out Look up now I’m drifting Hot air is thick but it lifts me And I don’t look down I don’t want to look down London you might take me for every piece I have I won’t remember it when I wake up quick, tired and mad London I am looking for proof that this is here Proof that I’m not lifting up and out but it’s heavier now And I do keep it down you know what I mean You’re the only one that came along and ever saw London never saw it Well neither did I I will not see London until it stops And stays for the night London wasn’t looking And I said that’s alright I will not see London until it stops

about

Songs About Hands is a wistful, intimate and deeply confessional four track E.P with a dreamlike indie folk feel. It features poetry laden lyrics, husky spectral vocals, ethereal flute and string arrangements and unfiltered emotionality. A four track therapy for the overthinkers written during an intense year of psychotherapy training, it’s the musical in-the-moment outpouring of constant, uncomfortable self interrogation. It offered me a space to reflect and permission to indulge in what it means to touch and be touched.

about

Pem London, UK

Pem is the project of Bristol based musician Emily Perry. Blending her rare husky voice with boundless vocal agility, she crafts a sound that hovers somewhere between folk and the smoky serenades of early sirens in music halls of days gone by. Her haunting voice dances up and over ethereal arrangements and intricate taletelling, lulling listeners into warm hazes of vulnerable contemplation. ... more
